Sustainability dialogues
On November 14, 2023, the Port Authority's collaboration model was presented. This model, aligned with the 12th strategic line of the Strategic Framework for the State-Owned Port System and in accordance with SDG 11 "Sustainable Cities and Communities", is the result of numerous conversations and interviews with our stakeholders. Its aim is to support the development of the Port of A Coruña and its Arteixo’s dock based on clear environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria, and to have a responsible influence on the metropolitan area of A Coruña to achieve greater collective well-being now and in the future.
Our collaboration model is structured around three key lines:
- To be a port that listens and communicates.
- To be a port that engages and participates in relevant and important matters for our stakeholders.
- To be a proactive port that proposes and builds alliances.
The Sustainability Dialogues allow connections of our collaboration model with the most current and impactful sustainability issues affecting the port and its surrounding area. These topics always fall within the environmental, social, and governance dimensions, and aim to listen, engage in dialogue, and propose concrete areas of work and collaborative projects.
Humboldt International Dialogues
Within this framework, we find the Humboldt International Dialogues, launched in 2023 in collaboration with CEIDA, which aim to raise awareness about Alexander von Humboldt (a researcher, naturalist, and geologist who led one of the greatest scientific expeditions in history, which departed from A Coruña on June 5, 1799), as well as to highlight relevant and current environmental issues.
- 2023 Dialogue: Began with an introduction of Humboldt and his connection to the city of A Coruña, followed by the environmental conservation challenges facing society, and a critical review of how these issues have evolved over time.
- 2024 Dialogue: Revision of the historical period in which Humboldt conducted his work and research, followed by an exploration of biosphere reserves as a tool for territorial conservation and development.
- 2025 Dialogue: Focuses on Humboldt’s relationship with the Hispanic community and a review of current environmental challenges through a sustainable lens.
